How our meal plans are made
Short, plain answers to "where do these numbers come from?"
Last updated: October 27, 2026
The planner
Plans come from CentMenu's planner engine, the same one used in the iPhone app. It picks recipes from a library, reuses ingredients across the week, counts whole packages and tries to stay within a budget.
The prices
Prices come from dated country tables built from supermarket listings and public price data. Other chains use estimated factors and wider ranges. They are averages, not live shelf prices.
Two totals
"Food you eat" values the part of each package your meals use. "At the checkout" is what whole packages cost. Both are shown as ranges.
Pantry basics
Oil, salt, pepper, spices, flour and baking powder are assumed at home and listed separately. If you have none, add a small first-week cost.
What we do not do
We do not promise a final bill, give medical or nutrition advice, or guarantee allergen safety. Always check labels.
Independence
We are not affiliated with any supermarket mentioned. Store names are used to say whose price table a plan uses.
